With Biden heading to Saudi Arabia so that he can mend relations, the families, and survivors of the September 11, 2001 attacks have a few words to share with the president. Many are more than a bit upset that Biden is going on an apology tour.
What do WE have to be sorry for? It was their kingdom that is responsible for the terrorist strike that killed close to 3,000 people.
9/11 Families United is a coalition for the families and survivors. Terry Strada, the national chair, explained that “We appreciate the president’s commitment to do everything he can to support the 9/11 family community, but empathy is not enough.” She went on to say that Biden must “Demand transparency from Saudi Arabia and accountability for those who supported al Qaeda and the hijackers who murdered our loved ones.”
President Biden seems to have forgotten what the Arab terrorists were responsible for. It’s why he handled the Afghan withdrawal as poorly as he did, allowing the nation to fall into the hands of the Taliban. And now, he’s going to meet with Saudi Arabia for a summit of Arab leaders.
While the White House says that it’s an apology tour for what Biden said about Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman several years ago, we already know what the tour is about. Biden wants to beg for more oil – which is just ridiculous when we could get it from within our own country.
The U.S. already assessed that Mohammed is the one who ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a columnist with the Washington Post. When Biden was a primary candidate, he referred to the Crown Prince as a “pariah” due to the human rights abuses.
We could have let that stay. After all, nothing about that statement is false.
Instead, we’re going to weaken our position by sending the old man to apologize – and then work on an angle to prioritize another country over our own.
John Kirby, a White House spokesman, explained that “What I can tell you is that the president will never shy away from representing the interests of the American people on a national security level wherever he goes.”
Sure…assuming he remembers. He might need to take some extra B12 to make sure that his memory is as good as it’s going to get.
Biden doesn’t really care about what happened on 9/11 or what any of the families think about his actions. He wants to relieve high gas prices so that his approval rating can look better. Even if that means climbing into bed with Arab leaders and telling them that they’re number one – and that he forgives them for all of their past indiscretions.
Whatever lies they feed him, he’ll eat them up. After all, this is the same president who believed the Taliban when they claimed that they’ve changed. There are countless women walking around Afghanistan wearing hijabs and unable to go to school that will testify that they most certainly have NOT changed.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the new White House press secretary, already told us that Biden has plans to discuss energy. “I think what I’m trying to say is to look at this trip as it being only about oil is not – it would be simply wrong to do that.”
Even Biden has said that he has no “direct plans” about what he’s going to do while in Saudi Arabia.
One thing is for sure – he’s not going to be able to make everyone happy, regardless of what he chooses to talk about.
It’s unlikely that the 9/11 Families United will feel anything more than empathy from Biden by the time he gets back from his trip.
